What is a KF94 mask?
KF stands for Korean filter, and 94 means it can filter 94% of virus particles. It can be comparable to the N95 mask, which has 95% filtration efficiency. KF94 looks like a mashup of N95 and a cloth mask. However, it’s better than a cloth mask and is considered an equivalent of an N95 mask. Similar to N95, it offers an adjustable nose bridge.
KF94 masks are slightly different from N95 and KN95 but offer higher-level protection against virus particles. They come in all shapes and sizes. Moreover, they also contain ear loops and side flaps that close the gaps around your face to minimize unfiltered air entry. Unlike clothe masks, they are disposable, so you don’t need to lander them.
How much is it effective in blocking Covid-19 or viral particles?
When a viral affected patient cough, viral particles comes out from his mouth, and there are significant chances that they can spread into the air. However, recent August studies had shown that both KF94 and N95 masks are effective and can reduce coronavirus transmission when a Covid-19 patient coughed.
Recent studies also show that both KF94 and N95 significantly block and filter the SARs-CoV-2 particles that can increase the transmission of Covid-19. KF94 also protects you from airborne viral particles that can enter the body when you inhale.
Usage of KF94?

But it can be possible only when you know how to use it properly. I will show you how to use and reuse the KF94 mask and why it’s necessary to use KF94.
At first, you should wash your hands with alcohol-based soap or sanitizer for at least 20 seconds. After it, pick your KF94 mask and fit it tightly around your nose and mouth. But make sure it’s covering your nose and mouth and not just hanging loosely around your neck. One thing more, while taking out your facemask, please don’t put it below your chin.
Otherwise, there is no need to wear a mask if you are not willing to use it properly. Besides, please don’t touch your mask’s outer surface because it’s a contaminated portion and may contain many viral particles. Also, wash your hands after taking out your face mask .
How to reuse your KF94 mask
KF94 masks are disposable and can be reused if you want to reuse them, well! At first, you will have to wash your mask. So, boil the water and soak your mask for 20 minutes in it. After 20 minutes, rinse and handwash it in cool water with mild soap; however, baby shampoo or baby wash can work perfectly.
Now, you should rub gently to avoid wrinkles but don’t squeeze. Finally, rinse again and air dry. However, you can put your KF94 into an open paper bag so that mask’s inside moisture can evaporate. After it, it will be free from any virus particle, and you can use it again.
I would never recommend reusing ordinary facemasks because various germs and virus particles can survive on them for a long time. According to some experts, the virus can survive for few hours to few days when it is left exposed. So, I request you to throw out the used masks and don’t take any risk.
Why should you use KF94 mask?
As you can see, facemasks make it hard to breathe; however, KF94 provides a gap in front of your mouth to breathe comfortably. Even it will not touch your lips or corner of your mouth. It means you can speak comfortably. Even more, they are available in three different sizes, and you can choose according to your face style.
However, it’s crucial to have a facemask that should fit your face style to block every single virus particle from reaching out to your mouth and nose. If you keep moving it around, it means you are allowing the viral particles to come in and come out. And this can cause the transmission of coronavirus.
Some researches and studies show that KF94 can filter the viral particles down to 0.3 microns in size. It means they can be an excellent choice for health workers to wear it and decrease infection risks.
Who should use KF94 masks?
We know they can filter 94% of viral particles and provide a higher protection level from coronavirus. Anyone can use KF94 masks even for every age. However, it might seem they are mainly for healthcare or health workers who are spending every second of their lives with Covid-19 patients.
You should use KF94 when you enter a room, home, or ward of Corona suspected or confirmed patients to avoid viral particles that might be in the air. Besides, you can also use KF94 when walking out of your home, going to a grocery shop, office, playground, etc.
